Vlingo is a new speech recognition program for the Blackberry Pearl,
Curve and 8800 series. It allows users to control many of the phone's
applications simply with their voice. For example, the user can say
"chili in Cincinnati, OH" and vlingo will search the web for results.
More impressive is its ability to translate dictated messages, email,
tasks and calendar appointments. We've seen other applications that do
this, such as Voice Control for the Palm OS, but at least from the
demos vlingo seems to be a very accurate and easy to use solution and
Yahoo has recently tapped vlingo to add speech recognition to their
oneSearch application. Blackberry owners in the US and Canada can
download the free program at vlingo.com.
