Sprint's just churning out Windows Mobile 6.1 as fast as they can it seems. Yesterday we saw a new Mogul ROM
surface, and today the Touch gets the same update. Users are reporting
a quicker GPS fix and overall improved stability over previous custom
ROMs. Since this is an official Sprint ROM there is no need to unlock
your device or worry about bricking it, bu

According to BGR the Bold will not launch on AT&T until
mid-August. Apparently RIM is running into software issues causing
poor battery life and overheating, and therefore the device has not
been certified by AT&T yet. This of course has not been confirmed
by either company, but lets face it, BGR's word is nearly as good an
official RIM press release. No mention of this affecting other
carriers or not, but if it's only AT&T having issues we wonder how
long that

Most likely, Sony Ericsson W580 has been a great success for AT&T,
because the carrier now offers yet another color variant. After white,
gray, black, pink and green, the Walkman slider is now available in
vivid red. Of course, the price remains the same, $99 after two-year
contract and mail-in rebate, which is just fine for a lady-friendly
music-centric device. If this is too eccentric for you, maybe the pink
will do just fine. See them all below and choose the color that suits
you best.

25th June 2008, 9:42 AM by Eric M. Zeman updated Today, 7:50 AM According
to sources cited by Reuters, Virgin Mobile USA has agreed to purchase
Helio from SK Telecom for an unknown sum. The deal is not final, but
the two companies have agreed to loose terms. Virgin Mobile USA would
purchase the 69% of Helio that SK Telecom owns, but no word was
available on whether or not Earthlink will sell its share of Helio as
well. Earthlink has a 28% stake in Helio. Under the initial terms of
the agreement, SK Telecom would agree to invest a nominal amount of
money in Helio once Virgin Mobile USA takes it over. Both Helio and
Virgin Mobile USA have struggled to succeed. Combining the two wireless
providers could prove beneficial to the merged entity.

Samsung revealed some spanking new mobiles at
the Singapore Telecommunications Exhibition - the Samsung J800 Luxe and
Samsung L700. They also showcased the Samsung L870.
Samsung J800 Luxe
Samsung J800 Luxe name sounds a bit misleading as there is nothing
luxurious about the handset. The Samsung J800 Luxe is a mid-range
slider with the reasonable thickness of 15mm and a 2.2-inch 256K TFT
display with the meager resolution of 176 x 220 pixels.
Samsung J800 sports a 2 megapixel camera, lacking autofocus but the
phone features photo blog function, which allows direct image upload to
blogs (over the 3G connection).

Sprint
recently rolled out a brand-new walkie-talkie service based on
different technology compared to what it has used in the past. Previous
Sprint Nextel phones used the Nextel iDEN network to pass walkie-talkie
signals back and forth. This service was fast and reliable, and has
become a way of life for literally millions of users.
The problem is Sprint's iDEN network is old, and has no clear
migration path to 4G. This means Sprint is faced with the challenge of
providing a comparable walkie-talkie service over its existing CDMA
network. Sprint and technology partner Qualcomm have cooked up a new
way for walkie-talkie signals to pass back and forth over the CDMA
network with performance equivalent to that of the old iDEN network. It
is called QChat. QChat needs some serious 3G action to work. It needs

contingent of mobile players have formed the Symbian Foundation with
the intent of merging Symbian OS, S60, UIQ and MOAP to forge one open
source mobile software platform. The companies include Nokia, Sony
Ericsson, Motorola and NTT DoCoMo. These four companies, in partnership
with AT&T, LG Electronics, Samsung Electronics, STMicroelectronics,
Texas Instruments and Vodafone, will all join to create the
not-for-profit Foundation. In order to make this work, Nokia is buying
the remaining shares of Symbian and will then give its Symbian and S60
software to the Foundation. Motorola, Sony Ericsson and DoCoMo have
also agreed to contribute their own assets to the Foundation. With all
the assets lumped together, the Symbian Foundation will create an open
source, unified platform with a standardized user interface. Foundation
members will have royalty-free access to the platform. The Foundation
